Hello magical humans!
It’s been a few months since I sent out a missive, but the time has come as I finally have a new direction for this lovely space. I’ve renamed this newsletter (and much of my online life) Clare Wonders. Because I do, I wonder about a lot. And my work and what I wish to create and share is so much broader than human design or tarot.
I love wonder as both an act and a sensation, and it feels like a cozy enough umbrella to place the fullness of my creative life and expression under.
So here’s what you can expect going forward from this space (and most of my social media tbh):
My musings on the intersection of witchiness and creativity (so more of the same)
Occasional tarot pulls and human design insights
Updates on my traditional publication journey (scroll down for a huge milestone!)
First dibs on workshops/classes/new offerings
Sneak peaks at new book ideas? Maybe?
Whatever intuition calls me to share
I know many of you signed up specifically for Human Design content, so if what I’m now offering in this space is no longer of interest to you inbox, go ahead and hit that unsubscribe button! No offense taken.
For everyone who’s still on board: an exciting announcement that you’ve probably already seen on all my social media accounts:
I have a literary agent!!!! 🤯🤯🤯
After nine months of querying and pitching, I received FOUR total offers of representation and ultimately decided to sign with Jennifer Azantian of Azantian Literary. She reps the incredible S. A. Chakraborty, who wrote the City of Brass books! (As well as a bunch of other amazing writers and illustrators.) She understands fantasy and is fierce and incredible in her pursuit of getting marginalized offers significant book deals.
I’m about to dive into a round of revisions with her that I’m super excited about but may be procrastinating slightly by writing this update. Maybe? Probably?
She signed me to represent me for the breadth of what I want to write, but the book we are tackling first and that sparked her offer is called ACCIDENTAL DEMONS. It’s a middle grade fantasy novel about a thirteen-year-old blood witch in Missoula, Montana who can’t stop conjuring accidental demons when she tests her blood sugar. It is dark and messy and fun and silly, and I’m so excited to have Jen’s vision taking it to the next level.
I also started playing with a new middle grade fantasy book idea that I’m crafting using tarot in a new way that I’m super excited about, though will admittedly move to the back burner as I dive back into ACCIDENTAL DEMONS.
Okay, that’s all for now. Wishing you a wonderful and SAFE start to the new year.
Wear your masks, stay the fuck home (if you can), get as many boosters as they’ll give you, and, as always, TRUST YOUR MAGIC!
Clare
